This Month's Meeting ....The next LA Fox meeting is this Tuesday, the second Tuesday of the month.  We will be back at NCR this month but we will now be using their new meeting room on the 16th floor. The guards may also be moving but we're not sure when. So, check with the guards if they are still in the lobby. If they aren't there, take the elevator to the 12th floor and that's where they should be. They will use their badge to let you get on the elevator to the 16th floor. We will try to have someone available to direct you this first time. Please see www.lafox.org for a map if you need directions to NCR.

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza.  FoxPro and Pizza just seem to go together. Upgrade your L.A. Fox experience with tasty, fresh, hot pizza. It's only $5.00. Here's an easy way to make sure you're not left out. Click here to send your reservation to Twila.

Main Topic:  Come and learn about DotFox, EL Software's latest product. This new revolutionary web framework, DotFox, will allow programmers to create active web sites using only VFP.  During this presentation you will learn how to build a complete web site from the ground up, using DotFox and VFP only. You will learn how to manage Pages, Page Templates, Page Components, Forms (Generated from SCX), Cascading Menus, Data Access, Security Issues, Remote Web Site Updates, Page Access Logs, and much more. Paid members of LA Fox will receive a free site license of DotFox, a $400.00 value. Please see www.lafox.org for further details.

FoxPro 2.x SIG (Special Interest Group)...
Since there are still so many FoxPro 2.x users in the community we have decided to check for interest in forming a FoxPro 2.x SIG. Bob Risinger will spearhead the formation of this group. Bob would like to have an informal discussion with anyone who is interested at the next LA Fox meeting to determine the best days, times, locations, topics, etc. for such a group. If you are interested but cannot attend the LA Fox meeting on Tuesday please let me know and I will forward your information to Bob. This is a great opportunity to help form a new SIG so it best suits your FoxPro 2.x educational needs, whether that involves FoxPro 2.x directly, conversion of FoxPro 2.x apps to Visual FoxPro, or other topics.

VFP 7 -

Object-Oriented Programming

While Visual FoxPro still supports standard procedural programming, new extensions to the language give you the power and flexibility of object-oriented programming. Object-oriented design and object-oriented programming represent a change in focus from standard procedural programming. Instead of thinking about program flow from the first line of code to the last line of code, you need to think about creating objects: self-contained components of an application that have private functionality as well as functionality that you can expose to the user.
