Volunteers Needed:
FoxPro/Foxbase Articles
Editor, and Steering
Committee Members
There is a special need at this time for additional volunteers to help run the group. The start-up work has been done, and thanks to Edison, the difficult problem of securing a meeting place and audio/visual equipment without bankrupting the treasury is handled. Nevertheless, there are many needs yet unmet within the group, as well as the ongoing task of planning and facilitating meetings.
The Steering Committee for LA. Fox meets once per month, generally on the Tuesday following the main user group meeting. We have a good time, complete with pizza, or perhaps other more exotic cuisine in the future. (At the last meeting I took a poll to see if we might try something else, and was pleased to discover that the committee is quite international in the proclivities of its collective palate.) A good time is had by all, and it’s a great way to get to know your professional peers.
Would You Believe the Third Tuesday of Every Month?
We’ve promised to try to get meetings back to Tuesdays, and so we do as of this month. However, in order to coordinate our scheduling with the timing of the DLaP newsletter, we will need to meet on the third (rather than second) Tuesday of each month. I promise to sit on the tailfin of the Spruce Goose for forty hours during a rainstorm if there are any further changes in our meeting schedule.
Where to Park for the Meeting
Edison is graciously providing parking for our group in a lot under its building. The entrance to this lot is off 1st Street, just after you turn east on it from Long Beach Boulevard.
Call for Presenters and Authors
If you’re interested in being a presenter at one of our group meetings, please contact me (Greg Dunn), Charles Williams, or one of the other steering committee members. We’d like to see a demo of your vertical market Foxbase or FoxPro application; a discussion of how you handled a particular technical problem; or other things that would be of interest to members. There’s no better way to market your skills and/or products, and you can have a lot of fun in the process!
We’d also like your article for the newsletter. If you have an idea, but aren’t sure just how to approach it or whether it would be of interest, give me a call and let’s discuss it! Articles will reach our growing mailing list for the Fox group, and we plan to contact other Fox User groups around the country to share articles. Share your expertise with the world!

dClip 2.5 To use or not to use?
Reviewed by Robert Kantor
Have you ever considered the number of hours wasted, sitting in front of a computer, waiting on the compiling/linking phases of application development?
Does linking a program ever seem to consume more time than running it?
If your answers to these questions are in the affirmative, dClip, an application from Donnay Software Designs, may be what you’ve been looking for. The key advantage of this program is the elimination of long edit, compilation and link cycles.
Upon starting dClip, you enter an environment much like that of dBase ffi+’s dot prompt interface. Any command accepted by Clipper, Summer ‘87 version, can be immediately
