Program Notes
DLaP
May the Force be with you - or at least with DLaP
this month at the Westside Pavilion on Wednes-
day, September 19th at 7:30 pm. David Lowery,
President of Sophco, developers of “Force, the
ultimate Dbase compiler” will be speaking to us
about their product. Force was two years in devel-
opment and claims to have speed and language
superiority over Clipper. It is the first Dbase
compiler to produce native code, thus creating
smaller executable ifies.
VCUG
The Valley Clipper Users Group will also be
hearing David Lowery speak on Force this month.
As always, the meetings start at 7:00 pm on the
third Thursday - September 20 this month. There
is a map showing the location on Page 9.
LA. Fox
Several group members will kick off the meeting
on Tuesday, September 18th with short presenta-
tions, then act as a panel to take questions from
the group. Of course, anyone in attendance will be
free to field, as well as ask, questions, about any
aspect of working with Foxbase, FoxPro,
Foxgraph, or any other issues of interest to the
membership. Plan to participate!
SAA Expo
This month DLaP will hold a bonus meeting
during the SAA (Systems Application Architec-
ture) Expo. Each of you should be receiving a pass
and information about the SAA meeting directly
from Digital Consulting, Inc, but we will tell you a
bit more about the meeting in case you over-
looked their brochure.
The SAA Expo is being held at the Los Angeles
Airport Hilton, from 12:30 to 6:30 on September
25th and 26th. The SAA Expo meeting for DLaP
will focus on the SAA component of a Common
User Interface (CU!). It will be held from 2 to 3
pm on Wednesday, September 26th. John Kinney
will discuss using STAGE as a tool to develop
these types of user interfaces. This should be a
very interesting and exciting meeting.
