LA Fox President’s Column (Con't from p.3)
will be held in Los Angeles in July. I have a bro-
chure with course descriptions and dates. You can
register at (800) 922-2019. They also offer two
Advanced FoxPro development courses but you
have to go to Chicago (the city in Illinois) for
those.

Pinnacle Publishing has just completed publica-
tion of the second series of reports called The Pros
Talk Fox , and is offering selected volumes at $29
each. These are excellent sources of information
by first rate authors, and are well worth the price if
the topic matches your interests. For example,
Melissa Dunn’s report on SQL is one of the best
treatments I have seen, Hank Fay offers a com-
plete treatise on Event Driven Programming, and
Whil Hentzen just issued a good methodology for
application development. I will have the list of
topics at the User Meeting. You can order at (800)
231-1293.

Mac Rubel, nationally known writer and speaker
on FoxPro, has announced the availability of
upgraded versions of his two packages of applica-
tion development tools - Power Developers Library
and Development Debugger. He is offering them
at substantial discounts to user group members -
$245 for the pair. I will have brochures at the user
meeting. You can order direct from Mac at (212)
972-2330.

Neon Software is releasing the Windows version
of FoxExpress with many improvements over the
DOS version that Mike Feitman showed us in one
of our earlier meetings. Brochures with product
details are available at the user meeting.

Short Takes...
Lately there have been quite a few celebrities
leaving the United States to make their homes in
other countries. It was only a matter of time before
the exodus hit the FoxPro community. Lisa Slater,
as of July, will be living “down Under’ in Australia.
All is not lost, though. She’s still writing books and
articles, and can still be reached on CompuServe
at 71333,2565.
Out and About (Con't from p.1)
“Everyone benefits when experts share their knowl-
edge and experience, and we want to recognize the

hours of the announcement:

Just read the News Flash on the MVP awards. I have
no quarrel with the persons named (they are all long-
time MVP’s in my book), but I would have expected to
see three more: Ken Levy, Steven Black, and Andrew
Ross McNeil (maybe also Bill Anderson). These
people may not be on the forum every day, helping out
poor lost souls like me, but they have given us, without
thought of compensation, the fruits of much labor with
the GENX projects and their various auxiliary items
(such as a beautifully executed Help package). If you
will accept nominations from a semi-lurker, please
consider these people nominated!
