Out and About
(Con’t from page 1)
to stay with in the SanDiego area while DevCon is going on. (A
word of warning, though.... my mother-in-law has an expression
that sums it up
-
“Fish and company stink after three days.”)
2.
This years DevCon promises, more than any other in the
past, to be a teaching DevCon. Microsoft will be rolling out
FoxPro 3.0. Many of the seminars will be addressing the new
technology in 3.0, so it it will provide the first opportunity for non•
beta testers to “get a leg up” on everyone who doesn’t attend.
3.
Although the featured speakers have yet to be announced,
you
can
be sure they will be top-notch because of the atmo-
sphere in which this newest offering is being presented. (Don’t
forget... .this release is supposed to be the first completely
Microsoft product.) I
have
found out, though, that one of the
people that has been invited to speak is John Miller, President
of the Orange County FUG.
4.
As usual, DevCon provides the opportunity for developers
to
rub
elbows with most of the important/influential people within
the FoxPro community.

Elsewhere....
Chuck Williams, President of LA Fox, is not “missing in action”.
His company is involved in a project with Microsoft’s ITG De-
partment. That’s their internal MIS group. His group was re-
cently relocated from Redmond to Issaquah. That’s Indian for
“Don’t know where else to put them”. He returns to the LA area
every weekend and should be back with us in time for the
October meeting.
Les Pinter, featured speaker at the July meeting of LA Fox,
made good on his promise to provide the group with back
issues of
The Pinter FoxPro Letter,
as well as delivering the
source code for the last 5-1/2 years of his newsletter. In order
to make obtaining copies of the three disks easier, we’ve de-
cided to make
two
copies of the disk set and have an Orange
County contact and an
LA
County contact. Those members
from OC may contact Barry Lee at (714) 968-4225, CID#
72723,3422. We’re looking for a volunteer to take care of the
LA County requests. The disks will also be available at the
meetings for those members wishing to make copies. The
newsletters will be available at the meetings until we
run
out.
Call for articles.
The LA Fox Developer Newsletter
is looking
for articles to include in the newsletter. These articles may be
on any Fox-related subject.... programming techinques, third-
party add-ons, book reviews, etc. And guess what? You don’t
have to be a Nobel prize-winning author to submit. You may
