exploration company. It is running today and ex-. panding to include more tools and cover other parts of the business
The quality of the speakers was excellent. Many of the FoxPro sessions were given by people we, know, such as Menachem Bazian and David Anderson. The sessions were categorized as introductory, advanced, and expert, and many of the expert sessions were presented by members of the development team from Redmond

its always impressive to hear the speaker say something like, yes I can answer that question because I designed that part of the product. On a scale of one to Levy, I found two that could approach the master in terms of information flow rate. Ty Carlson’s Windows NT Interoperability session used about 30 servers running several flavors of Unix and Netware, and 100 Compaq workstations with modems,

Dan
Shelly’s session on Replication Service in SQL
Server also moved at Levy speed (but only for an
hour and a
half)
and left the audience limp.
You get some idea of the information overload by the 3 large 2.5 inch binders
containing
printed versions of the presentation material The conference CD which contains all the presentation slides and also supplementary papers by
the speakers is a
real relief, and provides a convenient way to review the presentations you missed and to
recall
the
information later. If your interests reach
beyond
FoxPro and your education
budget is large, this
conference is a good bet.

Voysys. Mike Seto, from Voysys, will demonstrating his company’s wares. However, this is not a sales pitch. One of the more popular exhibitors at DevCon, this company’s products provide functions to answer the phone, gather touch tone digits as menu options, the ability to “speak” numeric and date data to users who call in, and to
accept
numeric input for table updates. Its an interactive voice response (IVR) toolkit and its done in FoxPro. We’ll probably get a peek at the code behind this technology, so don’t miss this one.
This is indeed a rare opportunity to see these people when they’re not surrounded by hundreds of people clamoring for their expertise. Its like comparing a
