Getting to Know....
The Board Members
No one thinks very much about what it takes to make
LA Fox go, in terms of organization and planning.
That’s an indication that things have been going
pretty smooth lately. This article will acquaint you
with the LA Fox Board of Directors/Officers who are
working behind the scenes. It will let you know
about their backgrounds, both in out of Fox-
related territory, and should provide at least a start-
ing point for realizing some of the resources avail-
able to the membership. In the coming months, we’ll
also be “spotlighting” other members of the group.

Bill Anderson , Board Member. FoxPro consultant/
developer specializing in cross-platform develop-
ment. Developer of the 3DBOX.PRG and
CHGFRLBL.PRG GENSCRNX driver. Bill works in
the DOS, Windows and Macintosh environments.
Current afld former clients include the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, Stanford Business Systems/KSA,
Warner Bros. Records, Rockwell International, and
KPMG Peat Marwick. Bill can be reached on
CompuServe at 72712,3417.

modifications for businesses and other consultants.
He works in FoxPro DOS and FoxPro Windows.

AccountMate (version 3.5 and Premier) and SBT
(VisionPoint and Professional) accounting systems;
a shipping-rate shopper that calculates the number
of packages and shipping rates for a variety of
shipping methods; a data entry system that allows
data entry at multiple sites and then merges the
data; created a system to retrieve CD-ROM data (the
application program has only a command-line inter-
face and returns data only to the screen). George’s
CompuServe ID is 71140,3527.

Michael Cummings , Board Member. Michael has a
Bachelors degree with Double Major in Finance and
Accounting from Cal State Fullerton. He has 15
years management experience in the bicycle indus-
try, 6 years with Huffy servicing major retailers such
as Target, Kmart, and Sears. He is also “Factory-
trained in professional Christmas Tree Assembly”.

“I remember waiting every day for the UPS truck to
bring FoxPro 2.0 when it first came out. The first
system I made was for myself and my secretary at
Huffy, to track calls, projects, and schedules for 30
technicians, 60 accounts, and 3 simultaneous large
projects.”

Systems developed range from the usual Payroll
reporting to a full-blown Mortgage Telemarketing
Loan Origination System. Clients have included
AST, American Savings Bank and Fox Broadcasting

silent type.

custom database applications back in 1989, when it
was still coming from Fox Software and the Devcons
were held in Perrsyville Ohio. He has been with the
LA Fox User Group since day one when it was
started by Greg Dunn. He did a lot of his application
development work as a subcontractor to Stanford
Business Systems, one of the early FoxPro leaders
and a major Microsoft Solution Provider. Last year
he joined SBS full time as a Project Manager, where
the focus has shifted to client\server systems and
information technology consulting. His CompuServe
ID is 72330,2326.

Making Browse Faster (Con? from page 9)
I could not find any documentation which suggests the
order of the clauses would make any difference, but it
surely does. The good code looks like
BROWSE
KEY m.street
FOR main.direction m.direction AND
main.streetype = m.streetype AND
m.in.hous.no m.hous.no
