tive voice response (IVR) toolkit and it’s done in FoxPro. We’ll probably get a peek at the code behind this technology, so don’t miss this one.

This is indeed a rare opportunity to see these people when they’re not surrounded by hundreds of people clamoring for their expertise. It’s like comparing a sold-out stadium concert with the intimacy of a small night club.

These people will join a list of speakers who have presented to LA Fox that reads like a “Who’s Who” in the Xbase/FoxPm development community:
Bill House
Lisa Slater
Les Pinter
Adam Greene
George Goley
Savannah Brentnall
Nancy Jacobson
David Anderson
Dick Bard
Mike Feltman
Beginning in August, by popular request, we’ll be switching gears and spotlighting applications and techniques by members of our own group:

August 21, 1995, 7:30 PM - Bill Anderson/Chuck Williams. Bill and Chuck will discuss their experiences in both building and managing the SITN Registration System. This program (written with FoxPro for the Macintosh) replaces a manual system used to track all aspects pertaining to televised courses held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

September 18, 1995, 7:30 PM - Microcomputer Engineering Services (MES). Microcomputer Engineering Services (MES) has been developing custom FoxPro applications for clients all over Southern California, as well as other parts of the country, during the last several years. MES specializes in system analysis/design, third-party add-in products, and quality/productivity improvement. On this night, MES will be demonstrating tips and techniques developed for applications running at several client sites, as well as discussing user interface issues, system design, design tools, RAD and other development issues.

By now, everyone has heard about IBM’s hostile takeover bid to buy Lotus. It’s causing a minor stir on Wall Street, so hang onto those old disks and docs I hear the Smithsonian will be mounting an exhibit and Jim Manzi will be writing a book called ‘What it Takes to Make an Excellent Product, Turn It into An Industry Standard, Run It Into the Ground Because You Don’t Keep Up With Technology, Sue the Shorts Off of Your Competitors, and Then Sell It Off to a Company That has Laid Off Several Thousand People Over the Last Few Years, and Shouldn’t be in Software to Begin With.”
