Visual FoxPro 3.Ob
As you know, Visual FoxPro 3.0 is releasing a slip-
streamed update into the channel in December: Visual
FoxPro 3.Ob.
Visual FoxPro 3.Ob is an international release of Visual
FoxPro 3.0. Visual FoxPro 3.Ob is Double Byte Charac-
ter Set enabled (DBCS) so it can be localized into Far
Eastern languages. In addition, VFP 3.Ob will ship with
SQL Server 6 ODBC drivers, Windows 95 desktop
ODBC drivers, and will have enhanced support for OLE
Controls. We also took the development opportunity to
fix some bugs.
DO VISUAL FOXPRO 3.0 CUSTOMERS NEED TO
UPDATE TO VISUAL FOXPRO 3.OB?
Probably not—the average user probably won’t need the
full update to Visual FoxPro 3.Ob. The main focus of the
update is to enable DBCS support for the Far Eastern
languages and to meet the OLE Controls Container
specification. The included SQL Server 6.0 ODBC driver
is available freely to Visual FoxPro 3.0 customers via the
Microsoft Network, Internet, and Compuserve. The
Windows 95 desktop drivers are also available in the
same way (see below).
