Two New Titles In The Microsoft Mastering Series
Want to learn your MFCs? Check out “Mastering Microsoft
Visual C++,” a new, interactive learning tool that takes develop-

solutions using Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC). It’ll be
available in mid-March. Now how about the DAO of Microsoft
Access? Hot on the heels of MVC is “Mastering Microsoft
Access Programming” which will be available at the end of
March. This title helps you gain expertise in Visual Basic for
Applications, DAO, and OLE development in the Access
environment.

a)ln the wake of an internal reorganization in its Developer
Division, Microsoft has reaffirmed its commitment to the
Microsoft Visual FoxPro database management system.

March 18, 1996, 7:30 PM - Sally Wong, Computer Re-
sources Technology. Sally will be presenting a system
modeling tool, XCase for Fox (distributed exclusively in the US
by Neon Software), that enables developers to design and work
through their system model, review their assumptions, identify
red undant fields and relationships, produce a logic diagram
(among others), etc., and then output to the VFP DBC. She'll
also be bringing a copy of the software to raffle off. (Only paid-
up members will be eligible for the dre wing.)

April 15, 1996, 7:30 PM - Roger Woodsmall and Mark Deric.
Roger will be returning with his latest version of AutoManual. To
jog everyone’s memory, Roger demonstrated his DOS product
to LA Fox about 1-1/2 years ago. He now has a VFP product
that automatically generates end-user documentation for any
VFP application to a MS Word file. Mark Deric, of Laguna
Group-ware, is the author of the HotLink interface which con-
nects FoxPro to various commercially available Internet VVorkJ
Wide Web servers. He will present the interface and discuss its
operation in conjunction with the techniques used in coding a
FoxPro-driven website. The websites used for the presentation
will include the Laguna Groupware site http://www.laguna1.com
the SoluMed Medical EquipNet site http://www.solumed.com,
and the demo site included with the HotLink product. In addi-
tion, he will discuss some of the other FoxPro interfaces that
are available on the market, highlighting the various approaches
to the interface software architecture.
