VISUAL FOXPRO DEVELOPER CONFERENCE 1997 is the eighth almost-annual gathering of FoxPro developers from around the world. This is where you can gather with the best in the industry, members of the Microsoft Visual FoxPro product team, and developers from around the world to learn how to solve your programming puzzles. Find out how to get it done with Visual FoxPro and the Microsoft Visual Tools. This year’s DEVCON is co-sponsored by Advisor Publications, publisher of the magazines for using FoxPro, database, client-server and Internet technology to build business solutions.

Learn exactly what you want to know. With several topic concentrations and dozens of sessions to choose from, you can select your own training path and emphasis. Get technical education in the key aspects of developing with Visual FoxPro 5.0, Microsoft BackOffice, ActiveX, component creation, Internet technology, and other Microsoft development tools.

Get an immediate and huge boost in productivity. In a few days, you’ll gain knowledge and skills that might otherwise require months of trial-and-error experimentation. Previous FoxPro DevCon attendees have told us this is the best place to get in- depth technical information regarding Visual FoxPro. If you are developing in Visual FoxPro you can’t afford to miss this conference and the insight you will receive on the current and future versions of FoxPro.

Discover the most important features of Visual FoxPro 5.0 and other Microsoft visual development tools. The problems you can solve with Microsoft’s development, database, client-server, Internet, ActiveX, and Windows technology are amazing. But knowing where to start and how to move forward can be daunting. This conference shows you exactly what’s important, what’s not, and how to make it all work for you now and in the future.

Learn from the leading expert application developers. Conference speakers are direct from the Microsoft Visual FoxPro 5.0 development team as well as the leaders in the FoxPro community. All speakers are intimately involved in Visual FoxPro 5.0. You will have an opportunity to meet with and discuss your current development challenges with the leading trainers,

July 21, 1997, 7:30 PM - Miriam Liskin. Miriam is extremely well-known for her contributions to the FoxPro community. She writes a regular column for FoxPro Advisor and has authored many books on the subject of FoxPro application development. Her most recent books are Miriam Liskin’s Visual FoxPro Expert Solutions (Que) and PC Magazine Programming FoxPro 2.5 (Ziff-Davis). Topic: An introduction to two basic strategies for publishing FoxPro data on the Internet. The first involves using FoxPro programs to generate static HTML pages, which can then be placed on any Internet server. The second involves using third-party tools to facilitate dynamic access to FoxPro data. She’ll talk about the advantages and disadvantages of these two approaches and suggest some strategies for overcoming the limitations of currently available tools.

[One of the items we will be discussing Monday night will be September’s meeting, which falls on the 15th and is in conflict with DevCon. We’d like to meet that month, tentatively on the 22nd, but because of commitments the airport has with other groups, we’ll need an alternate place to meet. If any one in the group has any ideas, or a place, please bring them to the meeting this Monday evening. And if you can’t make the meeting, but know of a place, please call me at 800/499-6237, ore-mail me at brlee@mesllc.com.]
