SYMANTEC ANNOUNCES FREE OFFER FOR THE NEW MORTON SECRET STUFF — New software for securing files sent via email on the Internet

In recognition of the fact that the Internet is used more frequently for sending confidential information, Symantec Corporation has announced the release of Norton Secret Stuff for Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT. This new application is free to the public and is designed to prevent unauthorized parties from tapping into a user’s “secret stuff.”

* 8-July-97 - A new hotfix has been released today to prevent

the Get-admin hacking program to work. The program could work because of a specific bug in the NT kernel of SP3 (only). This hotfix (ADMNSP3.EXE, lib 4 of NTWORK). Read ADMNSP3.TXT, lib 4 of NTWORK and read msg# 657965 in WiN NT for more details on this. You should immediately install this if you use SP3.

* 2-July-97 - MS released a new hotfix yesterday to guard against the SSPING attack. Download ICMPSP3.EXE, lib 4 of NTWORK, and read msg# 657003 here.
