VFP DevCon 2000 Announced
No, we’re not talking about Advisor DevCon in Miami. We’re
talking about TCI’s VFP DevCon 2000, May 14-17, 2000, in New
Orleans, LA. The announcement, which became public during
the closing session of the 3rd Annual Southern California VFP
Conference, came as a surprise to most of the attendees.
(People who attended the SoCal VFP conference are being
offered a substantial discount for this conference.)
This new event is going to have the same support from Microsoft
as Advisor’s DevCon and will be on the same scale/level. But it
is offering several innovative concepts. Content and direction is
going to be determined by an advisory board which will be made
up primarily of speakers. People attending this conference will
be allowed to “cross-pollinate” with the SQL conference, running
concurrently at the same hotel, free of charge. This means that
while an attendee may be registered for the VFP conference, he
or she will be able to attend any of the SQL conference ses-
sions absolutely free.
So far, confirmed speakers for this event include:
Menachem Bazian
Steven Black
Jim Booth
Markus Egger
Toni Feltman
Eldor Gemst
Tamar Granor
Y.Alan Griver
Doug Hennig
Michael Levy
Miriam Liskin
Rod Paddock
John Petersen
Ted
Roche
Mac Rubel
Drew Speedie
Rick Strahl
Chuck Urwiler
While
the name “TCI” (Tech Conferences) may not be a house-
hold word in the FoxPro community, they’ve been silent-
partnering with Advisor since 1994, when Advisor began associ-
ating their name with FoxPro DevCons, as well as other events.
This past FoxPro DevCon, in Palm Springs, was their last
official conference as equal partners. TCI was responsible for all
the conference logistics while Advisor (with an assist from
Microsoft) was responsible for speakers and content.
This conference is already causing quite a stir on the Universal

significantly add to the functionality and visual interface of your
VFP applications. As you may know, there is a learning curve
and some controls work better than others with VFP. He’ll
provide an overview of controls from several sources, then drill
into details of implementing some that he is using in his own
projects. He’ll also share some experiences on the in and outs
of managing ActiveX controls
in both development and end-user
environments. Don’t miss this one...
