From the Boardroom...
LA Fox Board Meeting Notes
The LA Fox Board of Directors held their monthly meeting on December 6, 2000. Highlights of the meeting:

Officer Elections. Due to the recent resignations of Barry R.
Lee (President/Newsletter Editor) and Twila Miller (Treasurer!
Membership), the Board held elections. The new officers are:

President:
Bill Anderson
Vice-President:
Michael Cummings
Treasurer: Wayne Stahnke
President Emeritus: Barry Lee (joins Chuck Williams)

Our best wishes go out to the new officers as they assume their roles effective January 1, 2001.

Boot Camp. LA Fox Boot Camp, held on December 2, 2000, was a huge success. It was well-attended and all of the attendees learned a lot. Because of this success, the Board is now entertaining the idea of having a “Beginner’s Corner” pnorto the start of every meeting. The exact format of the Corner has yet to be decided upon, but look for it to start happening soon. The board also decided on a half-hour presentation on a beginning!review topic before the main meeting session begins. This will start at 7:00 PM.

Boot Camp II. Coming in the Spring.

Slight Name Change. The Board decided to keep the name of the group “LA Fox”, but they decided to change the expanded name from the “LA FoxPro User Group” to “LA Visual FoxPro User Group”.

Looks like there are some exciting changes ahead for the membership

At LA Fox

December 18, 2000, 7:30 PM. The Annual LA Fox Christ
mas Party. It’s that time of the year again. Come join us for merriment, good times, LA Fox fellowship, and tasty treats. And what would the Christmas party be without The White Elephant Gift Exchange? So come prepared for a good time. fEd. Note: The idea behind the White Elephant Gift Exchange is to bring a wrapped “something” that is no longer useful to you but might be to someone else <g>. Last year, ‘lucky” recipients received such valuable gifts as “cheesy” romance novels, copies of “useful” computer books (The Complete DOS 5.0 Reference, Understanding Lotus v2.01, WordPerfect 4.2, etc.), hardware (2400-baud modems, etc.), stocking stuffers that didn’t quite turn you on last Christmas, etc. It’s great fun, with lots of laughs, and provicies you an opportunity to pass those white elephants along to someone “deserving” of such presents. So, look in the back of your closets and out in the garage I’m sure you’ll find something. It’s not mandatoty that you bring one since there’s usually plenty to go around, but it does make it easier.) Oh. yeah and Ken Levy will be here, too. <s>
