expand more than one state) for
that zip code. Our users group
can get it for 10% off. Please
contact John Kinney for details.

article on this product soon.

L.A. Fox
President’s Report
by Greg Dunn
Thanks to Fox Software for
sending us Joel Kneisley this past
month, and to Southern Califor-
ma Edison for providing us with
a wonderful meeting facility.
Very special thanks to Pam
Leslie and Barbara Turpeau of
Edison for opening the adminis-
trative doors within Edison and
for contributing a great deal of
direct labor to make the meeting
possible. We appreciate it!
Joel’s presentation was most
informative, and those in atten-
dance seemed particularly to
enjoy the time spent in open
question and answer. Thanks to
Fox also for sending us prizes to
raffle. So far at our meeting
we’ve given away three copies of
FoxPro, a copy of Foxbase+/
Mac, and a copy of Foxgraph.
We’ve also raffled a copy of Tom
Rettig’s Help System, donated by
Tom Rettig Associates, and a
copy of Scan-a-lyzer, donated by
Tech ifi. This coming meeting
will be no exception to the
bonanza: Fox Software will be
sending us either a copy of
FoxPro or a copy of Foxgraph
for our raffle.
All of us on the L.A. Fox steer-
ing committee have been part of
many other users’ groups. We
have all observed that members
seem to enjoy time for open
question and answer more than
almost any other activity. Ac-
cordingly, we plan to make that
our focus at the September
meeting. Several group members
will kick off the meeting with
short presentations, then act as a
panel to take questions from the
group. Of course, anyone in
attendance will be free to field,
as well as ask, questions, about
any aspect of working with
Foxbase, FoxPro, Foxgraph, or
any other issues of interest to the
membership. Plan to participate!
What Has Happened to the
Newsletter?
Because of new job responsibili-
ties, I am unable to continue as
editor of the LA. Fox newslet-
ter, and will otherwise be reduc-
ing the scope of my role within
the group. Fortunately, in the
matter of the newsletter, we
have an alternative which will, in
the view of the steering commit-
tee, serve you well, and even add
additional benefits. This alterna-
tive is to combine forces with
another Los Angeles Group
known as the Dbase Language
Association of Professionals, or
DLaP.
DLaP’s focus spans all dialects of
the Dbase (or “xBase”) language.
Since many of us who use Fox
also find it necessary to be
involved with some of these
other dialects, joining forces with
DLaP will provide a convenient
way to stay abreast of develop-
ments therein. Furthermore, all
LA. Fox members are now
automatically members of DLaP,
as all DLaP members are now
members of LA. Fox Those
from either group are free to
attend meetings of either or both
at no admission charge, and all
will receive a common newslet-
ter. The newsletter will include
articles on Foxbase and FoxPro,
as well as Clipper, dBase IV,
DBXL, dbFast, Force, and other
dialects of xBase.
DLaP already has, with the
Valley Clipper Users’ Group, a
similar relationship to the one
we are establishing.
