along with VFP’s sypport for OLE controls and sophisticated

client/server capabilities, and highlighting some cutting edge

Group News...

Change of Officers. Effective Nov. 13, 1995, LA Fox has a

new president. Chuck Williams, president of the group since its

formation years ago, and one of the outstanding contributors to

both the growth and stability of the group, stepped down due to

growing committments outside of the group. The LA Fox Board

of Directors appointed Barry Lee, former Vice President of the

group, to fill the void. Bill Anderson was appointed to Vice

President. The remainder of the board remains the same,

including Chuck Williams, who becomes President Emeritus, the

first in LA Fox history to hold that position. LA Fox owes a great

deal to Chuck.

(Ed. Note: For people new to LA Fox, a word of explanation

might be in order. LA Fox is run completely by volunteers,

known as the Board of Directors. The group has no constitu-

tion, per se, and is completely supported by member dues, with

no outside subsidies for equipment, newsletter expenses,

speaker fees, meeting places, etc. Virtually any current member

may volunteer to be on the Board. Once a member expresses

interest in being on the Board, the Board will then approve or

disapprove the member’s appointment to the Board. The Board

is responsible for the general functioning of the group, as well its

general direction, coordination of activities related to the group,

and the appointment of officers.]

Newsletter/Article Exchange Working. The newsletter article

exchange, announced at OCFDG and LA Fox two months ago,

is an unqualified success. For those of you who missed it,

here’s how it works. Submit an article to the editor (me) for

inclusion in either newsletter. (Editor reserves the right to edit or

offer constructive comments concerning submitted articles and

accepted articles shall be considered to be in the public do-

main.) Articles are then ZIP’d as individual Word documents

and forwarded to user groups all over the country, including the

Rocky Mountain Fox User Group (RMFUG - Doug Sherman)

and the Milwaukee Association of FoxPro Developers (MAFD -

Whil Hentzen). During the recent FoxExpress DevCon, in Las

Vegas, several more newsletter editors were added to this

“exchange program”, so that now anyone submitting an article

to either newsletter (OC or LA) has pretty good chances of also
