The Next Meetings
Because the Developers Conference is in session from January
16 through 19, our January user group meeting date has been
moved to MONDAY, January 23 at 7:30PM, at the “normal”
Torrance Airport meeting place. The speaker is one of our
members, Jon Melon ,who will show his FoxPro application with
some object oriented flavor. There will also be plenty of time at
the January meeting for feedback and discussion with our
members who are attending Devcon.

In February, another member, Jeff Knight, will show us some of
his new tricks, this time with a report writer. I still remember the
very innovative user interface ideas that Jeff demonstrated last
year in his medical application, and am looking forward to.
learning something new again.

Announcements
Microsoft will present their annual Tech-Ed Conference in New
Orleans from March 27 through 31. This is another conference
“for computer professionals who design, develop, integrate, or
support” Microsoft based solutions. Although many of the
FoxPro Devcon presentations are repeated at this conference,
the scope is broader and the attendance is larger than the
FoxPro Devcon. There are over 300 technical sessions covering
4 broad tracks Backoffice, with sessions on SQL Server,
Windows NT Server, Systems Management Server, and the
new Exchange Server Development Tools, with sessions on
FoxPro, Visual Basic, and Visual C++ Office, with sessions
on Excel, Word, Access, and Project Windows Technologies,
with sessions on Windows 95, OLE, Multimedia, and MAPI. I
have a brochure with a listing of session titles. The pnceis. $995
before Feb. 1. To register, call 800 433-9996.
From the "I Can’t Believe They Really Said That” Divi-
sion of NAD (New Acronyms Department):

day of the month. Next meeting is Jan 5 at 7:00 PM at the Boca
Raton Sheraton Hotel, 195 and Glades Road.

“Joe Homnick of Homnick Systems will be presenting ‘POOP -
Proper Object Oriented Programming’. Joe is a past president of
our group and one of the featured speakers at this years
DevCon.”
