to come to trial in the United States. She is part of
the thousands of workers, operators, and journal-
ists who are suing various computer manufactur-
ers, including IBM, NCR, Apple, Atex, and Wang.
Currently, there are 44 lawsuits pending in New
York and at least 20 pending in Minnesota. Since
this case is the first to come to trial, it will bear
watching.
Elsewhere, the California Supreme Court handed
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) a big victory
in its long-running dispute with Intel Corp. over a
1982 cross-licensing agreement between the two
companies. The court, in a 4-3 decision, reversed
an appeals court decision and upheld an
arbitrator’s 1992 ruling that gave AMD the rights to
all Intel intellilectual property needed for the manu-
facture of microprocessors compatible with the
Intel 386 chips. Since that technology is now
outmoded, about the only net effect the decision
will have will be to remove the threat that AMD
would owe Intel millions of dollars in back royalties.
However, there are still three other federal cases
regarding the licensing agreement between these
two companies.
That ruling is unfortunate for Intel, since the chip
giant could have used the money to fund the
replacement of all those faulty pentium processors,
rather than take a hit in the credibility category.
Can you imagine having to prove that you needed
the floating-point processing capabilities in order to
receive a replacement chip from Intel? Give me a
break.
Lastly, DevCon is upon us and yours truly is eating
a little crow. It seems that all that talk on C’Serve
about attendees receiving a beta copy of Visual
FoxPro is true, as confirmed by Cris Wittrous (MS)
at our last meeting. But given the circumstances,
and the chance to walk away from DevCon with
the beta, I don’t think crow ever tasted so good.

“Fully functional shareware.”
That’s the description as it appears in CompuServe’s
MS Fox Users Forum (3rd Party Products) for Time
Trakker v3.72. At 1250 downloads, since 12/16/94,
it’s one of the more popular FoxPro-related shareware
programs to come along in the last three months.
Time Trakker uses familiar metaphors to guide you
through the process of logging in and keeping track of
the hours billed against your clients. We’ve been
using it for the last 2-1/2 months (we started with
v3.71) to monitor the hours spent in bringing a project
for a major client to completion.
“Punching in” (see Figs. 1 & 2) is as simple as double-
clicking on the client’s name, clicking on the
