The annual

will be held from June 4 through 6 in Minneapolis. This is a three day educational conference which focuses exclusively on FoxPro. The speakers are established leaders in the database field from the primary development, education, and publishing companies in our industry. The topics are heavily oriented to the new Visual FoxPro release. The conference is actively supported by Microsoft, FoxTalk, and the Advisor magazines. The price is $365. You can register or get more information at (612) 941-9820. We will have brochures at the user meeting.
FoxPro Q & A
(Con't from page 4)
Hi. I have a parent table (EMPLOYEE) that looks at a child table (DEPRTMNT) using SET RELATION TO command. My problem is that I wish to look at two different records in the child table (EMPLOYEE. DEPT and EMPLOYEE.OLD_DEPT) for the one parent. Is this possible?

Dear Bob,
Yes it is. Try the following:
Candy Machine
(Con't from page 6)
Most of us are both the designers and users of all the functions that we write. Writing clear code is nice, but results are what matters. At first glance, Steve’s technique looks more appropriate for large shops with many programmers potentially using code that you write. Actually, in practice, I’ve found that using this coding style lets me focus more on the candy and less on the candy machine interface.

Quote-of-the-Month....
“Why am I writing this book? I am writing in the totally selfless hope that this book will engender goodwill among all the nations of the earth, help dean the environment, and lead to the development of inexpensive solar power.
“Ok, ok.
“I am really writing this book to make people aware of Micro Endeavors’ FoxPro training dasses. Not the most altruistic motivation I admit, but an honest one. We have trained more than 3,000 FoxPro programmers at Micro Endeavors, and most of them have asked for a book to take back to the office. Well folks, here’s the book I promised. Enjoy.”
George F. Goley, IV fFrom the
introduction to his very influential book,
Creating FoxPro
Applications]
We’ve come up with an easy way to submit articles to the
LA
Fox
Developer
Newsletter
one that has been overlooked for a long time.
You can submit your articles to either Chuck Williams
(72330,2326) or Barry Lee (72723,3422) on
Compuserve.
These articles can be on any FoxPro-related topic, whether it concerns a new technique you’ve discovered, a certain development technique you may favor over others, book reviews, etc.
The quality of this newsletter really depends on the members that support it, not just read it. And I think we’d all be surprised by the useful information that could be circulated around the membership.
